Customs audit and reassessment consultation in Morocco: reading the situation and organising the response
In the event of a customs reassessment in Morocco, the consultation puts the facts, deadlines and financial stakes in order. It also examines the administrative settlement routes and their conditions. It takes the form of a written note or a 60-minute videoconference. The deliverable then guides the decisions to be taken and the documents to be gathered. The note is delivered 4 working days after receipt of complete information; the videoconference slot is set at least 7 days after booking (priority slot possible within 3 working days).

Customs audit or reassessment situations in Morocco
- An importing company is subject to an audit and must gather its declarations within short deadlines.
- A reassessment notice opens deadlines and sets a financial stake to be measured.
- The finance department receives a customs official report and must assess its implications.
- An exporting company is considering whether a settlement or an ex gratia remission is appropriate.
- Several notices and letters are accumulating without a consolidated schedule of current deadlines.
Process
- Gathering of facts. ASKonsult first identifies the facts, the documents received from the administration and the current deadlines.
- Ordering. The facts, deadlines and financial stakes are then presented in an orderly manner.
- Review of settlement routes. The analysis then covers the administrative settlement routes, such as settlement or ex gratia remission, and their conditions.
- Identification of documents and decisions. The documents to be gathered and the decisions to be taken are listed precisely.
- Presentation of findings. It takes place in writing or during a 60-minute videoconference, the only synchronous step of the oral format.
Deliverable
In written format, the deliverable takes the form of a guidance note. In a videoconference, a session record sets out the points examined. In both cases, it first establishes the state of the facts and deadlines. It then sets out the financial stakes. Finally, it identifies the settlement routes to be pursued with the authorised professional, as well as the documents to be gathered. The note is delivered 4 working days after receipt of complete information. The videoconference, for its part, takes place in a slot at least 7 days after booking (priority slot possible within 3 working days), Tuesday to Thursday.
Prerequisites
The analysis requires the documents received from the administration, in particular the reassessment notice or the official report. The declarations concerned and the correspondence exchanged supplement this information. The consultation timeframe runs from receipt of all this information. Complete transmission thus determines the starting point of this timeframe.
Frequently asked questions
Written note or videoconference: which format to choose?
The note is suitable when a written statement of the facts and deadlines is to be shared with management or the authorised professional. The 60-minute videoconference, on the other hand, allows a direct exchange on the stakes and settlement routes. It gives rise to a session record. In both cases, the deliverable covers the facts, the deadlines, the financial stakes and the documents to be gathered.
What timeframes apply to a consultation on a customs reassessment in Morocco?
Timeframes are indicative and run from receipt of a complete file. The note is delivered within the 4 working days following that receipt. For the videoconference, the slot is set at least 7 days after booking (priority slot possible within 3 working days), Tuesday to Thursday. The firm schedules these sessions in advance, in set time slots. In addition, an admissibility check precedes the start of the consultation.
What role does the authorised professional play?
In matters of customs reassessment in Morocco, the consultation prepares the groundwork for pursuing settlement routes without replacing that process. The choice of settlement route is made with the authorised professional, based on the statement of facts and deadlines. Representation before the administration or a court falls to this professional. The same applies to drafting procedural documents.
What role does the interactive assistant play?
An interactive assistant (IA-04) supports the completion of template O-04. It explains the sections and criteria, then rephrases the questions where needed. It also checks the consistency and completeness of the answers. However, the assistant issues no opinion and does not qualify any particular situation. It only prepares the work that the firm analyses and validates.
Which right of withdrawal applies?
For a consumer client, a seven-day right of withdrawal applies. A slot set at least seven days after booking preserves this right. However, a consultation scheduled less than seven days ahead entails immediate performance. The firm then obtains the client’s express consent, after informing the client of its consequences. In that case, the right of withdrawal can no longer be exercised.
Does the information provided remain confidential?
The firm treats the notices, declarations and correspondence provided as confidential. These documents circulate solely through the secure area and serve only the purposes of the consultation. This obligation survives the end of the relationship. In addition, input into the interactive assistant excludes data identifying third parties and sensitive data.
What follows the consultation?
When the situation calls for structured work, the Preferential origin package (K-04) takes over. For general managements exposed to crisis issues, the Executive subscription (A-03) provides regular support. Depending on the case, the customs and origin (C-06), crisis (C-17) or business difficulties (C-18) consultations supplement the analysis.
Out of scope
The consultation devoted to customs reassessment in Morocco includes no representation before the administration or a court. It also excludes drafting procedural documents. Nor does ASKonsult conduct any negotiation on the client’s behalf. These interventions fall to the authorised professional, with whom the client pursues the chosen settlement route.
