Kit · Leadership Transition & Continuity
Organising a job handover
A poorly prepared job handover causes the organisation to lose what is written down nowhere: the actual status of files, commitments made orally, the habits of contacts and outstanding receivables. The kit therefore turns this knowledge into a written and verifiable statement, handed over to the successor and to line management.

What the job handover kit contains
- A handover note in seven sections: framework, scope of the position, status of files, contacts, resources, financial position and validation.
- Two checklists, one on the resources handed over, the other on the financial position of the scope.
- A tracking workbook with five data-entry tabs: ongoing projects, contacts, equipment, invoicing and collection, receivables at risk.
- Finally, a presentation file with an executive summary, a table of contents and instructions for each tab.
When to organise a job handover with the kit
The kit serves first upon a departure or an internal move. It also serves during a reorganisation, as well as before an extended absence of the holder of a key position.
Its intended users include, in particular, general management, human resources departments and heads of department. In addition, the successor finds in it the deadlines for the first thirty days.
Instructions for use
Individual interviews with the outgoing holder and the main contacts first precede the drafting. The workbook is then filled in, one line per file, contact, item of equipment, invoice or receivable; the balance of invoices is calculated there. The note then refers to the workbook for details. Finally, the outgoing holder, the successor and line management initial the note, then a checkpoint takes place at thirty days.
Expected outcome
The outcome is a statement of the position as at the effective date: files, unformalised commitments, contacts, equipment, invoices and receivables to be followed up. In addition, the note sets out the successor’s priority points of attention.
