Preparing for a supplier due diligence audit
The supplier due diligence audit is prepared before the European buyer makes its request. Large European companies indeed have to address adverse impacts on human rights and the environment among their partners. They therefore question their suppliers. The questionnaire thus organises the answers and the evidence available.

Sections of the supplier due diligence audit questionnaire
- Identification of the supplier.
- Governance and internal policies.
- Labour rights and human rights.
- Environment.
- Traceability of the supply chain.
- Identification of available and missing evidence.
- Finally, points for discussion with the buyer and references.
When to prepare for a supplier due diligence audit
The questionnaire serves first on receipt of a customer questionnaire. It also serves before an on-site audit. Furthermore, it prepares an improvement plan shared with the buyer.
Exporters and subcontractors of European groups are in particular its intended readers. The document also concerns quality, human resources and environment departments.
Instructions for use
The questionnaire is first completed with the functions concerned: management, human resources, production, purchasing. The supplier then gathers the evidence available for each section. Furthermore, the supplier identifies the missing evidence before the audit. Finally, the points for discussion prepare the exchange with the buyer and a possible improvement plan.
Expected outcome
At the end of the questionnaire, the supplier has a file of answers and evidence organised by section. Gaps are clearly identified. Consequently, the audit takes place on a prepared basis, and improvement commitments remain realistic.
