Checklist · Financial Engineering & Grants
Preparing a funding or grant application
A funding or grant application is first and foremost an exercise in consistency. The project, the amount, the use of funds and the supporting documents must indeed match one another. Yet most rejections stem from undetected ineligibility or a missing document. The checklist therefore applies to loans and grants alike.

What the funding or grant application checklist verifies
- Eligibility for the targeted scheme.
- Presentation of the project: in particular objectives and timetable.
- Financing plan: in particular full coverage of funding sources.
- Administrative documents.
- Finally, submission and follow-up until the decision, with notes on use.
When to prepare a funding or grant application
The checklist serves first before a bank loan application is submitted. It also serves for a public grant, an honour loan or an investment premium. Furthermore, it structures follow-up after submission.
SME managers and project promoters are in particular its intended readers. The document also concerns associations and cooperatives.
Instructions for use
Eligibility is checked first, before any drafting. The financing plan is then finalised, with sources and uses of funds set out. Furthermore, the project promoter dates and checks each administrative document before submission. Finally, a tracking table records exchanges with the body concerned, additional requests and deadlines until the decision.
Expected outcome
At the end of the process, the application presents a consistent project, a fully funded financing plan and complete documents. Follow-up is organised from submission. Consequently, the risk of rejection on formal grounds decreases, and requests for additional information are answered within the time limits.
